NEW! Expansion of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA):

Expansion of FMLA by National Defense Authorization Act:
January 28, President Bush signed into law the first expansion of the FMLA
since it became law 15 years ago. The DOL plans to issue regulations soon, but
until then employers are required to act in good faith in attempting to comply
with the law. The changes included in the newly enacted National Defense
Authorization Act expand FMLA rights in two principal situations:
(1) Employees are entitled to up to twenty-six weeks of leave to care for seriously injured or
ill relatives who are military service members.
(2) Employees who experience "any qualifying
exigency" arising from their immediate family member being called to
active military duty are entitled to up to twelve weeks of leave.
Attend this webinar to learn how to comply including: (a)
Who qualifies for 26 weeks of leave including the definition of "next of
kin"; (b) What qualifies as a "serious injury or illness; (c) Who
qualifies for 12 weeks of leave for any "qualifying exigency"; and
(d) Which rules are effective immediately.
